American Solar Challenge on the UMN Campus!

What’s Coming?

The American Solar Challenge (ASC) arrives at the University of Minnesota for the first time since 2012! The challenge is a multi-day, cross-country competition where collegiate teams design, build, and drive solar-powered vehicles across thousands of miles. This challenge tests not only engineering and energy efficiency but also strategy, teamwork, and endurance. Find more about the event, scoring, classes, and competitors here!

Display Day, July 24th from 12-7pm

Teams will be showcasing their solar cars, hosting Q&A’s, and celebrating their hard work and dedication to their vehicles! Teams have been preparing for this moment for years! Come support Minnesota’s team!

Start Line, July 25th at 8am

Teams will begin their 1500+ mile journey across the United States. Public viewing of the start will take place along Church St.!Our team will be competing with our brand new 16th car, Hyperion! Please park in 4th St. Ramp or Church St. Garage as to not block the path of solar cars as they depart!

The Rayce Crew

Our rayce crew team consists of 24 people who will compete in FSGP and ASC, weathering the journey! We have multi-role engineers who will be cooking, driving, doing media, and importantly, are ready to make repairs to the car at any moment. We have spent months of planning, logistics, financing, and preparing for this competition!
